How to Maximize Your Amazon Flex Block Earnings

There are several key factors that can help maximize your earnings with Amazon Flex. And here are some of the most important factors to consider before reserving your Amazon Flex block:

  • Take the largest denomination of earnings, no matter the hourly rate. In other words, I focus on top dollar amount versus per hour earnings because I want to maximize my 8-hour day, 40-hour week limit set by Amazon Flex.

  • Stay Active on the Flex app and monitor it regularly for block releases and opportunities to pick up additional shifts. By staying active on the Flex app, you will know when your Amazon warehouse releases their blocks, which will give you an advantage over the competition. Being proactive and grabbing extra blocks when they come available will help you boost your earning potential.

  • Take note of surge pricing and anticipate when surge pricing opportunities will arise. During high-demand periods, for example, Amazon Flex will offer surge pricing. Which means high pay for each delivery block. Keep an eye out for those opportunities to maximize your earnings.

  • Work on higher earning days and take time off during lower earning days. Because you are capped at a 40-hour work week, so you have to make your hours count! For example, Saturdays are lower earning days in my region, as Saturday blocks rarely surge. So, I’m not going to waste my work hours on Saturday if it’s for base pay only. I make sure that I work the days that are higher earning in pay.

And once you reserve your block, this is how to maximize your earnings while delivering packages on your route:

  • Time management is crucial to maximizing your earnings. So, avoid unnecessary delays by being organized and prepared before hitting the road. Make sure packages are organized in your vehicle so that you can quickly find them at each stop. And take a minute to look over your route so that you can avoid any known road closures and unnecessary backtracking.

  • Utilize multiple navigation apps to avoid congestion, accidents, or road closures that the Amazon Flex app navigation did not pick up. For example, I frequently check Google Maps and Waze while delivering to find the quickest routes and avoid traffic. Not only does this save me time delivering packages on my route, but it also helps me avoid delivering packages late. Which late deliveries affect my overall Amazon Flex driver rating.

  • Track your expenses by keeping a record of your mileage, fuel costs, and any other relevant expenses. It is important to understand your net earnings, which is your block earnings minus your delivery expenses. And it is also important to understand your tax liability, which is why you want to keep a record of business mileage driven.

By strategically selecting Amazon Flex blocks and implementing these effective delivery tips, you can significantly increase your earnings as an Amazon Flex delivery driver.
