$6k in 30 Days?!? | Holiday Hustle Day 1
Today is Saturday after Black Friday, and the first day of working 30 days straight delivering packages for Amazon Flex during the busy Holiday Season. My goal is to earn at least $6,000 in the next 30 days working exclusively for Amazon Flex.
I’m going into my fourth holiday season, as I’ve been delivering packages for Amazon Flex since Fall of 2019. So, I know exactly what to expect and have the hang of working Amazon’s peak seasons. And the day after Black Friday is a perfect day to start delivering because there is heavy demand for drivers this time of year.
So, from Saturday November 25th until Christmas Eve, I’m going to be writing one blog per day (and posting one YouTube short vlog each day on my YouTube channel) about my Amazon Flex holiday adventures and earnings.
Today I reserved two blocks, with the first block starting before the sun rose at 4:45am. After arriving at the warehouse and checking in, there appeared to be a large gathering of Flex drivers around the license scanning kiosk waiting for their routes.
Amazon ended up overbooking the block hour. And all of us were sent home with pay after waiting for 30 minutes because there were no available routes. So, I was paid $78 to wait 30 minutes and then go drink coffee at Dunkin Donuts while working on content. Not a bad start to the 30-day challenge! It wasn’t a well-paying block to begin with, so I’m glad it worked out.
This overbooking happens often, and receiving full-pay without working is really just the luck of the draw. And I refer to this as “free money” blocks! Sometimes I’ll receive “free money” blocks a few times per week. And then other times, it’ll be months before I'm sent home with full-pay again.
Amazon overbooks their blocks because they rather overspend on delivering packages by having too many drivers and sending drivers home with full-pay, than underspend and not have enough drivers to meet their customer demand.
I thought I was going to get lucky again with my late morning block! As when I was checked in at the warehouse, there were many Flex drivers waiting for their route again. But it appeared that routes were slowly getting released from the warehouse. And I waited for about 15 minutes before finally receiving my route.
My late morning block was a 3 and half hour length block. And there weren’t many packages and stops - 23 packages and 20 stops. It was also a very easy route and in a very nice area of Villanova, Pennsylvania. I was able to deliver every package and make it back home all within the allotted block time; even though I waited 15 extra minutes before receiving my route at the warehouse.
I finished the day driving 113 total miles and $165.50 in daily earnings. I still have a long way to go to reach my $6,000/30-day goal! Please share and follow my journey if you want to see me reach this goal!
