How to Deliver Packages for Amazon Flex

As an Amazon Flex driver, knowing how to efficiently pick up and deliver packages is essential for a successful delivery experience. If you’re new to Flex delivery or looking for some helpful tips, this is how you deliver packages for Amazon Flex:

1️⃣After you reserve your block, drive to the warehouse and park in the designated Flex pickup zone. Some Amazon warehouses have normal parking spots where you load up your vehicle. While other Amazon warehouses have indoor garages or outside

2️⃣Take a photo of yourself. Then walk to a designated kiosk or Amazon employee to scan your driver’s license or ID. Amazon also allows you to arrive at your reserved block 15 minutes early. But you will no longer be able to scan in for your block if you are more than 5 minutes late.

3️⃣You are then assigned a route by Amazon’s algorithm. Some warehouse locations may still have Amazon employees handing out routes. But this antiquated pickup process is currently being phased out.

4️⃣Next, the Amazon Flex app will let you know exactly where to find your packages within the warehouse by assigning you a zone area and route number. Your Amazon packages will most likely be inside a cart or tote.

5️⃣Once you receive your route cart, scan each package, then organize and load packages into your vehicle. Depending on how many packages you receive, this process can take anywhere from 10-20 minutes. And since most warehouse pickup zones are located outside, make sure you dress properly for the weather.

This is a crucial step that should not be overlooked. How well you organize packages inside your vehicle is directly correlated to your delivery efficiency. So, slow down and take some time at the warehouse to properly organize your vehicle so that you set yourself up for success when delivering.

6️⃣Now that you’ve picked up the packages, it’s time to hit the road and deliver the package to your first stop. Depending on your block length, which can vary from 3 to 5 hours, you will average between 20-40 packages.

By following these guidelines, you’ll be well on your way to becoming a successful Amazon Flex driver. Drive safely and remember to always be aware of your surroundings. Stay safe and Happy Flexing!
