How many Hours can Amazon Flex Drivers Work?
One great aspect of being an Amazon Flex driver is the flexibility that it offers. Unlike traditional 9-to-5 jobs, Amazon Flex allows drivers to choose when and how often they like to work. And if you’re considering becoming an Amazon Flex driver or just simply curious about the workload, you’ve probably wondered how many hours can Amazon Flex drivers work per week?
As a Flex driver, you are an independent contractor, which means you have control over your own schedule. However, it's important to note that there is a limit on the number of hours that you can work per week as an Amazon Flex driver.
Flex delivery drivers are limited to working a maximum of 40 hours per week. This is also a “rolling” 40-hour limit. Which means it’s 40 hours total over the last 7 days. This weekly limit policy is set by Amazon, but state and local municipalities may also have labor guidelines that Amazon must follow.
Amazon increases its weekly limit to a maximum of 50 hours per week during peak seasons. Which includes tax season, the weeks following Amazon Prime Day Deals, and the Christmas holiday month of December. And will lower the limit when demand is no longer there.
These limits are put in place to ensure the safety and well-being of drivers, as excessive hours can lead to fatigue and decreased performance. And although weekly hour limits are set by Amazon, states and local municipalities may have further limits or restrictions.
It’s also worth mentioning that set hours may vary depending on your market location. And with limited hours, it is important to consider the availability of delivery blocks, as they can vary and impact the number of hours you can work in a given week.
These blocks vary from 2 to 5 hours out of my warehouse, and they also vary in pay. And if you secure too many low paying blocks without considering how many hours you’re working, you run the risk of having a low-earnings week.
My earnings strategy is to select the highest dollar amount block possible, since your earnings potential is severely limited in comparison to other gig apps because of Amazon’s weekly hours limits. So, choose your blocks wisely because you have a limited numbers of hours each week to make that money!🤑💰
