How Many Hours Can a Flex Driver Work Each Day?

As an Amazon Flex driver, there is a maximum allowed working hours per day. The specific limit may vary depending on your region, but it typically ranges from 8 to 10 hours per day. A maximum of 10 hours per day during peak delivery season - Prime Day Deals, Christmas holiday, and tax season. And 8 hours maximum during non-peak seasons.

Additionally, it’s important to note that Amazon limits its Flex delivery drivers to 40 “rolling” hours per week. Which means it’s 40-hours worked over your last 7 calendar days. In other words, you can only work up to 40 hours per week, spread over the last 7 days. These two very important factors can drastically affect how many hours you can work each day.

Since Amazon Flex drivers are severely limited in working hours compared to other gigs -like Uber, Lyft, or DoorDash, I recommend paying close attention to your hours and only reserve profitable Flex blocks. And time management is also very important to help optimize your earnings.

One strategy to optimize your earnings within the allowed hours is to carefully plan your weekly schedule in advance. And choose delivery blocks strategically, focusing on higher-paying blocks during warehouse “peak” times. By selecting the most lucrative opportunities, you can maximize your earnings within the limited time frame.

Additionally, staying flexible and being ready to pick up last-minute blocks can help you increase your earning potential. Keeping an eye on the Amazon Flex app by constantly hitting “refresh” for any available opportunities can ensure that you make the most of your allowed working hours. And spreading 40 hours over a 6-7 days has drastically helped me take advantage of surge blocks when they become available.

Although Amazon Flex has limited working hours compared to other gig app, you can still increase your earning potential by strategically planning your weekly schedule, staying flexible, and taking advantage of peak demand seasons and periods.
