Worst Hours to Deliver Amazon Flex Packages

As an Amazon Flex driver, it’s important to know which hours can make delivering packages more challenging. One of the worst times to deliver Amazon packages is during peak traffic hours. This typically occurs during morning and evening rush hours when people are traveling to and from work. Heavy traffic will significantly slow down your delivery process.

For example, I avoid delivering packages for Amazon Flex during the evenings. Because it’s by far the worst time to deliver packages in my region for two reasons:

  • First, the supermajority of these late afternoon, early evening blocks go into downtown Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs. It’s beyond my comprehension why Amazon would pick peak traffic hours to send packages into an already congested area. It must be a logistical thing.

  • Second, driving late afternoon and early evening rush hour around Philadelphia is the WORST! Morning rush hour sucks, but evening is by far the worst. And just adds to my disdain for evening delivery blocks. I hate getting jammed up at the end of that day. I’m a morning person and the day already feels long enough by late afternoon.

I recommend avoiding Amazon Flex blocks during these times as heavy traffic can significantly slow down your delivery process. Making your packages late to their destination. And Amazon’s algorithm doesn’t know that you’re stuck in traffic and running late to your deliveries. Resulting in your Flex driver ratings being negatively affected by consistent late deliveries. Even when it’s for reasons outside of your control.

Another factor to consider is extreme weather conditions during rush hour. Delivering packages during heavy rain, fog, or snowstorms can impact driving and make it difficult to find safe parking and access certain package drop-off locations. However, a benefit of delivering Amazon packages during weather “events” is lucrative surge pay!🤑

Remember to be mindful of the worst times to drive and deliver Amazon Flex blocks in your region. And try to stay clear of scheduling blocks during those times. Instead, choose block times that help make your deliveries more efficient and optimize your time and earnings. Learn your region’s traffic patterns and become strategic about your scheduling.
